We are hiring a Data Entry Tax Preparer who is both fast and focused, committed to ethical excellence, and capable of transforming raw numbers into secure, structured reports that fuel compliance and trust. You will be the first line of accuracy before a return is ever filed serving as both a gatekeeper and guide.
• Previous experience in a tax office, accounting firm or data entry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of tax software platforms and familiarity with Crosslink.
• Prior use of secure document sharing tools (e.g., JotForm)
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain confidentiality. Light bookkeeping or administrative experience is a plus.
• Bilingual (Spanish, Creole, or ASL) is a plus but not required. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
✦ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enter tax data from physical and digital documents into secure systems with precision and speed
- Review W-2s, 1099s, bank statements, receipts, and source documents for accuracy and completeness
- Identify missing information and collaborate with clients or senior preparers to resolve discrepancies
- Maintain detailed client files and strict confidentiality in line with IRS regulations and internal privacy protocols
- Label, tag, and sort documentation for fast access and audit readiness
- Assist with amended returns, IRS correspondence prep, and error reconciliation
- Track workflow progress and meet firm-wide productivity and compliance benchmarks
- Monitor for red flags that could signal fraudulent or suspicious submissions
- Support the tax preparation team in peak season with filing system management, portal uploads, and digital verifications
- Report to the Compliance Officer and Lead Tax Strategist for oversight reviews

- Applicants must complete a free online typing speed test and submit proof of results with their application. Minimum typing speed of 50+ WPM with 95%+ accuracy
- High attention to detail and ability to read and understand IRS forms
- Proficiency with data entry tools, including Excel, PDF editors, and cloud-based CRM platforms
- Comfortable navigating secure portals and scanning documentation for digital storage
- Knowledge of basic tax terminology (e.g., AGI, dependents, credits, deductions) preferred
- Strong personal integrity and ability to handle sensitive financial data with discretion
- Must have reliable internet, a distraction-free workspace, and availability during tax season hours
- Ability to follow complex instructions and protocols without shortcuts
- Background check required – includes identity verification, employment history, and criminal check
- WPM typing test and data accuracy test required prior to interview

- Starting Rate: $16–$20/hr., based on typing speed, relevant experience, and completion of training requirements. Applicants with higher speed/accuracy scores and prior industry experience may qualify for the higher end of the range.
