Q. Who are the three Credit Bureaus?
A. Experian, Transunion and Equifax.
Q. How long does the process take?
*IMPORTANT* Due to the COVID-19; USPS will require more time to processing and delivering mail in a timely fashion due to limited transportation availability as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 impacts. This change is effective Dec 7, 2021.
Like many other agencies, organizations, and employers across the country, the three major Credit Bureau (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion) are adjusting to the realities of working during the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis and are making the following changes: First, effectively immediately all of our employees are now working virtually from home remotely. Experian, Equifax and TransUnion implemented International travel restrictions to identified areas (including China, Italy, Iran, Israel, Japan, and South Korea). Additionally, the credit bureaus had to lay off more than 50% workers nationwide and likely will lay off and more employees have been asked to self-declare to their manager and self-quarantine, even if they are not ill.
Second, Experian, Equifax and TransUnion are experiencing delays in receiving disputes letters due to unprecedented mail volume and other COVID-19 impacts on the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). The delay processing times apply to processing, answering, reviewing and replying back to disputes letters submitted by mail and can expect to receive a response with in 10-12 weeks. Because of increases in COVID-19 cases and changing local health conditions, a small percentage of routine dispute letters are taking longer than 12 weeks to process. If you have waited more than 12 weeks ago and have not received a response from Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. You will may also sent out a dispute letter requesting additional information to continue processing your dispute process. This change is effective Dec 7, 2021.
